Delcam Signs Korea's Doosan to Support Products Use
BIRMINGHAM,
UK, May 22, 2008 - CADCAM developer Delcam has entered into a strategic
partnership with Korean machine tool manufacturer Doosan to encourage the
use of the company’s FeatureCAM and PowerMILL CAM software by Doosan
customers. Both organizations will encourage their respective resellers to
work together at a global level to increase the level of promotion and
market awareness of each other’s products.

partnership: left to right, Sandy Moffat, Delcam Asian Business Development
Manager, Chan-Oong Jeong, Hankook Delcam President, and Jeong-Kuen Lee,
Managing Director of Doosan’s Machine Tool R & D Center
The partners will collaborate on the development and testing of
post-processors for Doosan’s most popular machines to be embedded in the
Delcam software. The companies will also work together to create accurate
virtual models of the Doosan machines for use in Delcam’s machining
simulation modules. Going forward, Delcam will work with Doosan’s
development staff so that new post-processors and machine tool models can be
added to the Delcam programs simultaneous with the launch of new Doosan
machine tools.
Delcam will provide software and training to Doosan staff for the
preparation of demonstrations for exhibitions and other promotional events.
Staff from the two companies will work together to develop demonstrations
that show the higher quality and increased productivity that is possible by
using Delcam software to program Doosan machine tools.
Doosan, one of Korea’s largest conglomerates, began producing machine
tools in 1976. Since then, the company has expanded its business to include
turning centers, machining centers, CNC boring machines, electric discharge
machines, laser-cutting machines and automation systems. This expansion has
helped the company to become the largest machine tool manufacturer in Korea
and one of the five largest in the world.
Commenting on the agreement, Tim Mitchell, Delcam’s Asian Business
Development Director, said, “I am very pleased to announce this partnership
with Doosan. It is a great honor for our software to be selected as
Doosan’s preferred CAM system.” Chan-Oong Jeong, President of Delcam’s Joint
Venture in Korea, Hankook Delcam, added, “We have worked closely with Doosan
in Korea for many years so it is very rewarding to see our national
agreement extended into a global partnership.”
