Delcam Opens 2 Training Centers in Ukraine
 BIRMINGHAM,
UK, May 20, 2008 - Delcam has donated its CADCAM software to a further two
universities in the Ukraine to extend its network of training centers in the
country. This is the latest stage in a partnership with Zaporozhe University
that has extended over seven years. To mark this long collaboration, Hugh
Humphreys, Managing Director of Delcam, was appointed an Honorary Professor
of Zaporozhe University by the University Council led by Rector Sergei
Belikov.

The new training centers were opened at the National Mining University in
Dnepropetrovsk, the leading mining University in Ukraine, and at the Crimean
Engineering and Pedagogical University in Simferopol. The latter is a new
University led by the Rector Fevzi Yakubov, which was established 15 years
ago by Tartar people returning to their homeland from Uzbekistan. In
addition to its role as an Engineering and Teacher Training University, it
also has a very important role in helping to preserve and foster Tartar
culture.
The initial agreement with Zaporozhe University was to establish a
training centre using the company’s software at the University. This was at
the initiative of Irina Pavlyuchenko and Head of the Engineering Department,
Professor Leonid Ivschenko. This initiative was supported by the Rector
Professor Sergei Belikov and Professor Alexandre Andrienko, Deputy Rector
responsible for the International Department. The software contribution was
arranged by Natalia Pogodaeva, Director of Delcam’s University Program, with
support from Oleg Borisenko of the CAD/CAM Centre in Lviv. The Centre is
responsible for supporting commercial companies in the region using Delcam
software.
Zaporozhe University was so pleased with the performance of its training
centre that it began showing the results of its achievement to other
Universities in the eastern part of the country where most of industry is
located. The University agreed to help train and support the staff of other
Universities in the region and enable them to establish their own centers.
Additional centers were established in Kivri Rog and Kharkov University and,
later that year, training centers were opened by the British Ambassador in
Kiev University and at Sumy University.
Delcam has donated software with commercial value of $1,250,000 to each
University. The company also provides advanced training courses for the
tutors over four weeks each summer at its headquarters in Birmingham. It
also hosts a University competition for the over 50 participating
Universities from Russia, Belorussia and Ukraine. Winning entries have been
received from both Kiev and Zaporozhe Universities, with awards presented by
the British Ambassador in Moscow.
