Brazil's T-Systems, Dassault Expand Automotive Partnership
SAO
PAULO, Brazil, Jul 2, 2009 - With a view to expanding operations in Brazil,
T-Systems, one of Europe’s major information and communication technology
providers and subsidiary of the Deutsche Telekom Group, and Dassault Systems
(DS) (Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), a world leader in 3D and Product
Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions, intensify their partnership in
providing IT solutions to the automotive industry. With this agreement,
Dassault Systems strengthens its presence in Latin American and in the
automotive sector, whereas T-Systems reinforces its sales team to operate in
the commercialization of systems and support.
The companies’ strategy is to expand their businesses in the Product
Lifecycle Management area. Known by the acronym PLM, these solutions are
responsible for the management of the product lifecycle, which includes:
creation and specification of projects, building of digital templates,
management of products and materials, data tests and control, digital
information solutions for the shop floor, sales and services (post-sale
services).
According to Sergio Luiz Savane, director of T-Systems’ Engineering and
Manufacturing area, the follow-up of each development and production phase
has become one of the major challenges faced by automotive manufacturers.
This has been leading to a growing demand for solutions to meet this need.
“Through the solutions offered by Dassault Systems, the goal is to bring
up revenues coming from the sales of solutions licenses alone to the PLM
segment by 10%. In addition to that, T-Systems’ engineering area is expected
to grow 30% this year, what corresponds to R$ 20 million (approximately US$
9.4 million),” said Savane.
According to Valéria Godoy, LATAM channel development director, Dassault
Systems, T-Systems’ experience in the Engineering area is an important
factor in the company’s strategy of sales through channels. “With PLM, we
help to increase productivity and expedite processes to complete the final
product. This will improve the performance of Brazilian companies in the
automotive sector,” said Godoy.
Dassault Systems develops solutions that help its customers reach higher
innovation and quality levels, reduce time to market and control costs,
which translate into a significant change to the way businesses are managed
in the most varied industries, regardless of whether they manufacture planes
or mobile phones.
With the company’s technology, it is possible to design products on a
virtual basis and simulate the necessary processes to produce them, what
assures a considerable reduction in costs given that building and testing
physical prototypes is no longer necessary. With 3D visualization and the
flexibility of digital content, product information can also be shared,
reused, and enhanced.
Additionally, PLM allows all professionals involved in the project, even
when geographically dispersed, to interact, give suggestions and participate
in real time, encouraging integration between organizations and a dynamic
pace in these processes, not to mention a reduction in costs.
T-Systems’ IT solutions for the engineering area also include consulting
services to define the solution to be used, development of products, process
planning and manufacturing, implementation, training processes, maintenance
and support to PLM solutions, which comprise the following concepts: BPM
(Business Process Management), CAD (Computer Aided Design), CAE (Computer
Aided Engineering), CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing), DMU (Digital
Mock-up), PDM (Product Data Management), ECM (Engineering Change
Management), and CAPPe (Computer Aided Process Planning), among others.
