CCE Expands 'Design to Doorstep' Program
FARMINGTON
HILLS, MI, Nov 17, 2009 – CCE, a global design and manufacturing
service provider, announces a significant expansion of its India-based
manufacturing supply chain. Driven by market demand and after establishing
robust processes to identify qualify and certify suppliers and managing
multi-vendor manufacturing processes for the ferrous and non-ferrous casting
industry, CCE has now broadened support to include precision machining,
sheetmetal fabrication, stamping, weldments, injection molding, forging and
assembly of parts.
Vinay Wagle, VP Sales & Marketing commented: “The above services are part
of the innovative program that CCE launched in 2007, called ‘Design to
Doorstep’ (D2D). Our goal was to leverage a select group of suppliers
focused on castings to reduce the current purchase costs and improving the
competitiveness of our customers by supplying specification driven parts of
the highest quality from India. CCE now has functional teams of experienced
manufacturing and sourcing professionals, who have extensive component
procurement experience from a select group of high quality, low cost sources
in India, each with an intense focus within a narrow band of industrial
components and products. These functional teams have helped us build a track
record of implanting successful, low-risk cost reduction strategies for our
US-based, and recently UK-based, customers. Although we initially targeted
our customers' commodity designs that are repetitive and stable, we have
actually successfully delivered parts for new programs”.
As part of the D2D program, customers can benefit by leveraging CCE’s
highly-skilled, co-located India-based engineers to gain high-impact Value
Analysis/Value Engineering (VAVE) services, leading to even larger savings
from existing parts and assemblies. VAVE services include, but are not
limited to, cost-saving modifications to material and/or process and
eventually to designs. To give you visibility during the engagement process,
D2D further provides support by CCE’s local services managers, and its
secure Internet-based work order management system, ‘PowerLink’. With CCE’s
design engineers working in tandem with its deep resource pool of quality
suppliers enables CCE, our customers get the rapid response to their
offshore-based design and manufacturing needs that would otherwise have
required months or years to accomplish.
