Bentley to Add Energy Performance Series to Academic SELECT

PHOENIX, AZ, Nov 13, 2009 – Greenbuild International Conference and Expo – Bentley Systems, Incorporated, the leading company dedicated to providing comprehensive software solutions for the infrastructure that sustains our world, today announced that Be Careers Network has expanded its Academic SELECT Subscription portfolio to include Bentley’s Energy Performance Series. This software for building energy design, analysis, and simulation is used by engineers, architects, and energy assessors to better understand and accurately predict the energy consumption, CO2 emissions, operating costs, and occupant comfort of a wide range of building projects – from small and simple to very large and highly complex. Bentley’s Energy Performance Series has been proven in the very demanding U.K. market for the design and construction of high performance “green” buildings and also supports U.S. and Canadian standards. Students at schools with Bentley Academic SELECT Subscriptions can now gain in-depth knowledge of and hands-on experience with this robust software as they prepare for careers in the engineering and architectural disciplines.

Scott Lofgren, global director, Be Careers Network, said, “By making Bentley’s Energy Performance Series software available to our Academic SELECT subscribers, we are helping prepare students for the challenges they will face and opportunities that will be presented to them once they launch their careers in the infrastructure professions. This advanced technology will enable them to one day design, construct, and operate better-performing, more sustainable buildings. At the same time, by enabling students to improve their technology skills, we are providing them with a distinct competitive advantage in the workplace.”

The Energy Performance Series offerings in Bentley’s Academic SELECT Subscription portfolio include:

  • Bentley Tas Simulator V8i
  • Hevacomp Simulator V8i (U.S. and Canadian standards)
  • Hevacomp Simulator V8i (U.K. and Irish standards)
  • Hevacomp Mechanical Designer V8i (U.S. and Canadian standards)
  • Hevacomp Mechanical Designer V8i (U.K. and Irish standards)

The Bentley Tas Simulator V8i high-speed simulation engine is ideally suited for fast evaluation of multiple options, quick testing of concepts, and comprehensive energy analysis of large and complex buildings. Bentley’s Hevacomp Simulator V8i software takes full advantage of the U.S. Department of Energy’s industry-standard EnergyPlus simulation engine to provide highly accurate building energy analysis and design. Bentley’s Hevacomp Mechanical Designer V8i is an indispensable, quick-and-easy design and analysis tool used to make engineering-quality building load and energy calculations, lay out systems, select equipment, and resize duct and pipe systems.
