Bentley's Randy Tardy Gets DBIA Transportation Award
EXTON,
PA, June 6, 2008 – Randy Tardy, industry sales advisor for Bentley Systems,
Incorporated, has received the 2008 Transportation Meritorious Service Award
from the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA). The award honors public-
and private-sector leaders in the transportation industry who have made
significant contributions in advancing awareness, understanding, and use of
the design-build project delivery method. The DBIA recognized Tardy as the
private-sector recipient for the contributions he has made to the
organization during the past year, specifically his work developing the
agenda and contributing to the success of the 2008 Design-Build in
Transportation Conference.
Said Walker Lee Evey, president and CEO of the DBIA, “Randy has elevated
the practice of design-build in many ways, most notably via his
participation on the conference planning committee. He has spearheaded
efforts to enhance the education and networking opportunities available to
owners at the conference, and has been instrumental in helping DBIA achieve
or exceed attendance goals for the past several years.”
Tardy has more than 40 years of industry experience with the Michigan
DOT, Intergraph, and Bentley, and has been engaged in design-build for more
than two decades, spanning both plant design and transportation projects. He
has been an active member of DBIA for more than 10 years, acting as master
of ceremonies for the beginning roll-call at the 2008 Design-Build
Transportation Conference and co-chairing the 2005 conference.
Tardy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from
Michigan Technological University and a Master of Science degree in
Transportation Engineering from Michigan State University. He is a
registered professional engineer in Alabama and Michigan. Among the most
notable projects he has worked on are a four-level interchange in Detroit,
the Hong Kong Airport, I-15 in Utah, and “T-REX” in Colorado.
