Bentley Releases ProSteel v18 for Structural Detailing

PA, Mar 19, 2008 – Bentley has released Version 18 of ProSteel – Bentley’s
modeling and detailing application for structural engineers, fabricators and
detailers of structures of all types. The software provides powerful
automated and integrated tools that enhance productivity, allowing to be
more profitable and to more quickly produce structural fabrication data.
ProSteel V18 includes several new features, including the following:
- Interfaces CIMSteel / CIS/2, SDNF 2 and SDNF 3, DSTV, Support of
user shapes, better interface to STAAD, Better user interface
- Full support of the imperial system of the Object Enabler
- Support of the dynamic UCS-System of AutoCAD 2007+
- ProSteel is integrated with AutoPLANT If AutoPLANT is installed on
the computer, ProSteel will be installed like AutoPLANT Structural
before
- Bentley Security / SELECT Server XM implemented
- Desired ProSteel license can be selected.
- Different Languages are better supported, only ONE Installation
Package for ALL Users. Additional Language Packages will be easier
implemented.
- Switching between different Languages is now possible. No parallel
installation of different Languages needed anymore.
- Global Settings have been improved
- Templates can be saved against deleting
- Length of Bolts can be matched to other Bolts
- Deleting of multiple Modifications like Drill holes, Cutouts,
Logical Links …
- Axis description of a workframe can be placed anywhere, and lines
can be defined at all intersection points of the workframe.
- In the structural object bracing an angle can be set for the
triangled gusset plate.
- Bracing rods / gusset plates can be merged.
- In collision detection XREF’s are determined, and shapes can be
switched to the highest resolution.
- Cope for bended shapes and according to US standard.
- Web Angle for bended shapes.
- New Group structure: Expanded with 2 new levels: Groups, SubGroups
and Assembly.
- Handrail has been Comprehensive extended, and in addition User
Blocks can be used – almost every handrail is possible.
- Ladder with exit by side.
- Positioning has been improved.
- Partlist supports XRefs, and List&Lable 12 is implemented.
- 34 new parametrical user shapes are implemented.
- Views in Layouts can be generated as details in modelspace and
paperspace directly, without the DetailCenter.
- Associative dimensioning of the model.
- Distribution of Weldingflags has been optimized.
- Detailing of Assemblies.
- Dimensioning of Groups individual according to description and size
of the element.
- Individual dimensioning according to the type of object.
- Complex and “multilevel” dimensioning of groups.
- Dimensioning of Joints.
- Improved dimensioning of bended objects.

Bentley’s SELECT Program can download ProSteel Version 18 free of charge.
