Autodesk 2009 Manufacturing Portfolio Ship
SAN
RAFAEL, CA, Apr 3, 2008 - The latest versions of Autodesk’s industry-leading
mechanical engineering and design software for manufacturing are now
shipping, enhancing manufacturers’ use and implementation of Digital
Prototyping – the ability to virtually design a complete product and
simulate how it will work under real world conditions, before it is built.
The 2009 product lineup includes new and enhanced versions of the Autodesk
Inventor product line, AutoCAD Mechanical, AutoCAD Electrical, the Autodesk
AliasStudio product line, Autodesk Showcase and Autodesk Productstream
software.
Inventor 2009 Family of Products
Autodesk Inventor software is the foundation of the Autodesk solution for
Digital Prototyping, producing 3D models that validate the form, fit and
function of a design with less reliance on costly and time-consuming
physical prototypes. This newest release of the Inventor family of products
features enhancements to many core design tools, offering significant
increases in productivity:
- Enhanced Sheet Metal Design – The Inventor 2009 product line
simplifies the design of a large range of widely used sheet metal
constructs by providing digital prototypes that faithfully represent the
as-manufactured part.

- Enhanced Simulation – Numerous enhancements to the dynamic
simulation environment make the tools more accessible and easier to use,
allowing users to more efficiently validate their digital prototypes
very early in the design process.
- Native 64 Bit Support – The Inventor 2009 family of products
ships with 32 bit and 64 bit implementations so users can take full
advantage of newer 64 bit computers.

Share and Review Digital Prototypes
Fully integrated with Inventor, Autodesk Design Review is the free* all -
digital way to share, review, mark up, and measure digital prototypes. New
is the ability to find and locate design data in Inventor drawings, object
properties, bill of materials and parts lists published to DWF files.

Other Autodesk 2009 Manufacturing Solutions
Autodesk is also shipping the latest versions of a variety of other
software products, all leveraged by manufacturers to extend the capabilities
of their Digital Prototyping workflows.
- AutoCAD Mechanical is AutoCAD software for manufacturing,
purpose-built to accelerate the mechanical design process. The 2009
release features include support for the international GOST drafting
standard and instant access to a Favorites List of standard parts.
- AutoCAD Electrical is AutoCAD software for controls
designers, purpose-built to design electrical controls systems quickly
and accurately. The 2009 release features include a Circuit Builder that
allows users to dynamically generate circuits based upon functional
requirements.
- The AliasStudio product family provides a set of tools for
the industrial design process, helping companies create superior designs
in less time. 2009 features include reference manager for referencing
large data sets and new align tool for modeling.
- Showcase software helps users create accurate, highly
realistic representations from 3D CAD data, enabling informed
decision-making on digital prototypes. Showcase 2009 features include
updated ambient shadow features and an expanded library of realistic
materials.
- Productstream software securely stores and manages
engineering design data and related documents, increasing design reuse
and collaboration. Productstream 2009 features increased performance and
improved integration with Inventor.
Together, these new Autodesk Digital Prototyping solutions give
industrial design, engineering and manufacturing departments of any size the
ability to virtually explore a complete product before it becomes real –
helping designers and engineers move beyond 3D to create models that
streamline the design and development process.
