3D Systems University Offers InVision 3-D Modeling Course
ROCK
HILL,
South Carolina, July 30, 2007 - 3D Systems Corporation (NASDAQ: TDSC), a
leading provider of Rapid 3-D Modeling, Prototyping and Manufacturing
solutions, announced today the availability of InVision 3-D Modeling courses
at 3D Systems University.
Students will learn the fundamentals of transforming object designs into
three-dimensional concept models using InVision 3-D Modelers during these
two- and three-day courses offered by York Technical College at the newly
constructed 3D Systems University in Waterford Business Park in Rock Hill.
3D Systems University is the premier training resource for skill development
in 3-D Modeling, Rapid Prototyping and Rapid Manufacturing.
The hands-on classes have been designed to give students a working
understanding of how to operate computer-aided design software, install
materials and produce models with InVision 3-D Modelers. These systems take
digital input from data and create a solid part through an additive,
layer-by-layer process. Easy to use and compact for the office and
classroom, 3-D Modeling is used extensively by designers during concept
development and early product design to accelerate the design process and
improve the quality of the final product.
“We are extremely pleased to collaborate with a top-notch educational
institution like York Technical College to offer courses in our cutting-edge
technology to the public,” said Abe Reichental, 3D Systems’ president and
chief executive officer. “We are grateful to York Technical College for
opening this state-of-the-art training center so the public as well as our
future and existing customers, resellers, partners and employees can learn
about the benefits of these Rapid Manufacturing solutions.”
During 3D Systems’ relocation announcement in November 2005, York
Technical College announced it would open a training center next to 3D
Systems’ global headquarters in Rock Hill. Now open, the training center
serves as a showcase for digital manufacturing technologies and as a place
to demonstrate how 3D Systems’ innovative products, services and
technologies are changing the world of manufacturing in almost every
industry, from health care to aerospace. The global attendees of 3D Systems
World Conference, Sept. 24-27, 2007, will experience 3D Systems University
in hands-on training courses.
York Technical College plans to add coursework addressing Rapid
Prototyping and Manufacturing to its two-year associate degree program in
Mechanical Engineering Technology. Graduates of the program will be in high
demand across the country and around the world.
“The InVision 3-D Modeling courses at 3D Systems University represent a
great opportunity for the public to get hands-on experience with some truly
innovative technology,” said Dr. Greg Rutherford, president of York
Technical College. “The combination of world-class training and world-class
technologies is a powerful one, and it’s precisely what 3D Systems
University is all about.”
