3D Repo, pioneers of cloud-based design collaboration in building information modelling (BIM) has just released a highly anticipated update to their platform. The update brings three key new features including the measurement tool, Revit plug-in, and an update to health and safety tool, SafetiBase. Click here for 3D Repo 4.6 new features.
With the new measurement tool users now take and record measurements in their 3D BIM models in the cloud. The measurement tool uses point-to-point and edge snapping for precise measurements between model objects. Measurements are also recorded and color-coded for easy reference. Use the measurement tool to calculate surface area and custom surface areas, minimum distances, and pinpoint model coordinates.
Issues created in 3D Repo can now be accessed inside Autodesk Revit with the new Revit plug-in. View messages, resources, screenshots, and even add new issues and comments all from within the Revit environment. Any new issues and comments are then easily synched back to 3D Repo for other collaborators to view.
With the Revit plug-in, designers can easily view issues from 3D Repo while making necessary design changes to the model. This new feature will save time for the designer by removing the need to switch between multiple software platforms to complete their work.
The Revit plug-in can be downloaded from the 3D Repo website and will be available in the Autodesk app store in due course.
Health and safety tool, SafetiBase, has also had an important update. Now users can download a standardised template by Health and Safety Executive (HSE) for recommended risk treatments and upload it to 3D Repo.
3D Repo users can simply download the template from their Teamspace settings in 3drepo.io and populate it with their treatment recommendations and risk data. Under the Treatment tab in SafetiBase, the new ‘Suggest’ button allows all collaborators to choose from the list of recommended treatments when creating a new issue. The new treatment suggestions feature will go one step further in identifying and mitigating potential safety risks.
