• May 19, Sunday - Strawberry Fields Forever, starts in Aptos (Santa Cruz county), by Global Cyclists Exchange (review of 2000 ride by Frank Mullin)
• June 1, Saturday - Sierra Century, one of the toughest as it includes the infamous Slug Gulch Rd (review of 2000 ride by Catherine Davis)
• June 22, Saturday - Terrible Two, not just a double century but the toughest double century, Santa Rosa (reviews)
• June 29, 30 - Everest Challenge, takes it name from its 29,000+ feet of climbing (the height of Mt. Everest), 120 miles on day 1, 86 miles on day 2
• July 13 - Death Ride, the ultimate tough ride and yet 2,700 cyclists a year attempt it, application closed for 2002 event (review by Robert Davis and Christie Cutter)
• Aug 4, Sunday - Marin Century - by the Marin Cyclists
