After yesterday's beating, I pulled out this morning a little
gingerly. But as it was, I needn't have worried. The legs felt surprisingly good
and fresh. The morning was cool (mid 40s) but I was quickly on my way and
comfortable. Many cyclists wear bulky jackets but I usually dress light and
depend on my exertion to warm me up. I love the way cool air feels against me
after a good pace creates a warm inner glow.

The open road beckons, CR K in Missouri going east
I came to the edge of Missouri rather quickly. The town of Canton has the
longest running ferry across the Mississippi. There is a bridge a few miles up
the road that most cars and trucks take, but this ferry still takes vehicles
that either want to shave few miles off their journey--and the occasional
cyclist that wants a more novel experience. The Mississippi is wide at this
point and the ferry takes about 10 minutes to cross.
All day with no rain. What a day!

Silver Streak awaits her turn on the ferry. It looks small but the ferry
took on a 80,000 lb tractor trailer and had room left over.
