VectorWorks User Doug Farr Writes Sustainable Urbanism Book

Farr on the publication of his book, Sustainable Urbanism: Urban Design with
Nature.
 According to author, architect, and long-time sustainable design
innovator Doug Farr, “sustainable urbanism” entails much more than just
designing green buildings. It encompasses a bigger picture of creating green
neighborhoods and planning for sustainable urban growth. In his book, he
explains the design reform movement and details how to implement sustainable
urbanism through leadership and communication in cities, communities, and
neighborhoods. A series of essays by Farr and others examines the health and
environmental benefits of linking humans to nature, studies high-performance
buildings and district energy systems, and explores how to increase
sustainability through density, integrate transportation and land use, and
create sustainable neighborhoods. Also included are several case studies in
sustainable urbanism.

Doug Farr is the founding principal and president of Farr Associates, a

chair of the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Neighborhood Development
(LEED-ND) Core Committees.
