Nemetschek NA Donates VectorWorks to Rebuild New Orleans
To assist Neighborhood Empowerment Network Association (NENA) to rebuild
Lower Ninth Ward residents neighborhood
 COLUMBIA, MD,
Jan 31, 2008 - Nemetschek North America announced today that it has donated
VectorWorks Architect 2008 to the Design Studio at the Lower Ninth Ward
Neighborhood Empowerment Network Association (NENA). The Design Studio at
NENA will use the software to assist in its efforts to help residents of New
Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward rebuild their neighborhood.
NENA was established in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to play a lead
role in rebuilding New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. Comprised of a small team
of architects, The Design Studio at NENA was assembled in November 2007 to
assist residents with architectural consulting on new construction,
renovation, obtaining building permits, working with contractors, and more.
"At no other time and place in American history, has building information
modeling (BIM) been more needed than right now in the Lower Ninth Ward of
New Orleans," says John Dwyer, AIA, director, Design Studio at NENA. "With
thousands of homes needing to be rebuilt in a short period of time, an
integrated approach to design and construction is the only solution to
assuring accuracy and quality-very quickly. By using VectorWorks Architect's
BIM capabilities, we will be able to significantly improve our capacity as a
community design studio in delivering sustainable homes to returning
residents."
