Sean Dotson Wins 2007 CAD Society Joe Greco Community Award
DELAND,
Florida, March 20, 2007 - The CAD Society, the Industry’s not-for-profit CAD
user association, announced today mechanical engineer, business owner, and
web site owner, Sean Dotson as the winner of its 2007 Joe Greco Community
Award.
For years, Dotson has contributed his CAD expertise on his online
technology forums, sdotson.com <http://www.sdotson.com>
and http://www.mcadforums.com.
Dotson has been a longtime participant in the Autodesk Inventor user
community, a regular presenter at Autodesk User Group events, a developer of
several related applications, and is a well-known CAD industry advisor and
commentator.
The CAD Society's Joe Greco Community Award is awarded each year to one
individual who has distinguished themselves by improving communication and
developing community within the CAD industry. “Sean has exemplified
contributing to the CAD communities in many different ways,” says CAD
Society President Marv Muston. Marv adds: “He is deeply committed to the
user community and we’re proud to present this award to him.” It has been
renamed in memory of industry analyst and editor, Joe Greco, who passed away
three years ago. At the time, Greco was President of the CAD Society. Dotson
was very involved in the development of the Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD
products from its first release and has been an avid user – and vocal critic
at times – of the product ever since. His discussion forum web sites,
related to all MCAD software, has grown from a small operation to a vibrant
site that receives more than 250,000 page views every month and thousands of
3D CAD users as visitors. Besides offering a problem-solving forum, the
website features industry news, downloadable macros and enhancements, and
reliable advice about CAD technologies.
Dotson received a Bachelors Degree in mechanical engineering from the
University of Florida <http://www.ufl.edu>
in 1997, and has worked in the custom automation industry fro the last 10
years. He is currently president and co-owner of RND Automation &
Engineering, a major manufacturer of custom automated industrial equipment.
The systems delivered range from semi-automatic operator stations to
material handling cells to robotic case packing applications.
