Archway Announces VersaCAD/Parking Structure
HUNTINGTON
BEACH, California, January 25, 2007 - VersaCAD/Parking Structure offers
a breakthrough in productivity for architects and engineers who design
parking structures. Combining the experience of Gary Miller with the
versatility of VersaCAD, this software promises payout in one project.
Mike Lazear, President and CTO of Archway says, "VersaCAD/Parking
Structure leverages the CAD Programming Language built-in to VersaCAD to
automate what is normally a tedious and complicated design process..”
Gary Miller has this to say about VersaCAD/Parking Structure: “the
program draws what I consider a fully detailed set of preliminary parking
structure plans, suitable for contractor estimating and end-user
presentation, consisting of a Site Plan, Ground, Typical and Roof Level
Plans, four Elevations and six Building Sections along with elevators and
handicapped parking In addition, the program produces a quantity takeoff
suitable for material and cost estimation. All of this from about 5 minutes
of input (not counting time for collection of data which is necessary in any
case).”
The software includes a series of macro routines that run on top of
VersaCAD 2006 for Windows. It is delivered including: CD, VersaCAD reference
manual, parking structure implementation manual plus one year of updates and
support. The software is easy to install, learn and use. The user can be
productive within one day and proficient in a week.
The ouput from the automatic design process can be edited right within
VersaCAD or exported in DXF, DWG or IGES formats that can be readily
imported by any of the other popular CAD such as AutoCAD or MicroStation,
minimizing the learning curve even further for those that have an investment
in CAD they wish to preserve.
VersaCAD/Parking Structure is priced at $2995 per seat for a perpetual
license which includes first year of Premium Service (support, updates and
maintenance). Premium Service can optionally be renewed annually at $995.
Corporate site licenses are available starting at $7500 per year. The
corporate site license allows for installation of the software on an
unlimited number of computers within the licensee’s organization.
Ed Vermurlen AIA, President of Vermurlen Architecture, Inc of Grand
Rapids MI says, “I have been working with the Beta version of
VersaCAD/Parking Structure and have had no hickups. This software is a real
breakthrough as it relieves the engineer or architect of the tedium of
drafting and provides time for evaluating more alternatives leading to a
more optimum design as well as time savings..”
VersaCAD has long been a favorite of educational institutions to teach
computer-aided-design. Single copies are available to students or faculty at
$195. Campus licenses are available for Mac and/or Windows at $995. The
campus license entitles any school to install VersaCAD on all of their
computers and to give the software to students for their home computers, in
addition to software updates and support. It also includes a complete
curriculum for three different courses that has been used and improved for
over twenty years. Many videos are also included for use by schools or
professionals. The curriculum was developed according to ISTE NETs standard
lesson outline.
VersaCAD is a product of Archway Systems, Inc. of Huntington Beach,
California. Archway is headed by Mike and Tom Lazear who are credited with
developing the first PC-CAD software in 1979. VersaCAD is a registered
trademark of Archway Systems.
The Parking Structure code, written in VersaCAD CPL (CAD Programming
Language) is a product of Gary Miller.
An online demonstration is available at mycadvideos.com.
