200+ Attend European VisMasters Design Modeling Conference
 LEXINGTON, Kentucky,
February 22, 2007 - Over 200 attendees hailing from over 30 counties
convened to participate in the European VisMasters Design Modeling &
Visualization Conference (DMVC) held in conjunction with IMAGINA at the
Grimaldi Forum, Monte-Carlo, Monaco. With the theme ‘Future of Design
Visualization’ the European VisMasters DMVC focused on core elements of
“intelligent” 3d models, Architectural Cinematography, BIM and production
efficiencies.
Kicking off a full day of sessions, Hsiao Lai “Sean” Mei, of ScreamPoint
presented “5D: 3D Reaches a New Dimension” to a standing room only crowd.
Participants from world leading architectural and industry design firms such
as Gensler, Whirlpool, HOK, Dan Pearlman (Germany), and LightWork Design
(UK) were learned how they can create and leverage “5D” tools to envision,
communicate, manage and transact projects more effectively. Ben Davies and
Jon Humphreys, of The Neighborhood, offered a passionate presentation on
Architectural Cinematography with the message clear: create an experience
that gets noticed. The final plenary session discussed architectural
styling: “The Beauty of Free Form Design.” Shrikant Sharma, Buro Happold,
focused on the creation of world class structural engineering design in
today’s built environments discussing recent global projects including the
Millennium Dome and Emirates Stadium.
Concurrent sessions completed the afternoon with presentations on gaming
and architecture, BIM, and production techniques. Dr. Andrew Hudson-Smith,
Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis, discussed the Virtual London project
and the integration of public participation via web-based systems for urban
planning. Miles Walker, CAD manager, HOK International London, hosted a
session on the strategic business imperative of BIM and discussed the BIM
process of linking structural design, analysis, co-ordination and
documentation. Brian Smith, author of Foundation 3ds Max 8 Architectural
Visualization, presented a production efficiency session that provided
participants with invaluable production tips and techniques.
