AppliCad v5.6 Released for Roof, Wall Estimating

MELBOURNE, Australia, Dec 12, 2008 - Late November, AppliCad commenced the shipping of new release for roofing professionals, AppliCad roof products version 5.6.

With the release AppliCad's new software comes a substantially renovated application for managing quotations, orders and installation of materials for complex roofing jobs. The function is called Stage Manager.

New function feature in AppliCad v5.6 - Stage Manager

Apart from applying multiple materials to a complex roof design - it also permits the job to be 'broken up'. Once the stages are defined (refer to the simple 'point and click' dialog box below), various elements of the roof such as second level roof and trim, first level soffit and trim and first level parapet wall and trim etc can be grouped individually. This permits the quotation to be prepared with all materials and labor combined and separate work orders and material lists prepared for each stage.

Along with the definition of the stages, the operator can 'explode' the roof elements as shown below for easy and clear representation of the roof and trim levels.

While this function does permit far better project management, it is not promoted as a full blown project management sub-system, as it isn't (but it's close!). You can order materials and manage labour costs in job lots. You can also make contractor payments in job lots. All very smooth.

Other new functions released with Version 5.6 include:

• rain water harvesting calculator
• sun study and shadow analysis for use with solar heating and PV cells
• digitizing satellite images (refer picture below)

• extracting roof pitch from ground level images
• nesting metal roof panels to reduce off-cut waste
• automatic generation of workshop details
• quoting, estimating and order forms
• seamless integration with accounting and business management tools.
