Bentley’s Anne Walters to Lead 40th ECC Conference
EXTON,
PA, Oct 3, 2007 – Bentley Systems, Incorporated today announced that
Anne-Marie Walters, global marketing director, Bentley Plant, has been named
chairperson of the Engineering & Construction Contracting (ECC) Association
for 2007-2008. Chief among her responsibilities as the new chair is to lead
the 40th Annual ECC Conference (www.ecc-conference.org),
being held Sept. 3-6, 2008, at the Westin Keirland Resort in Scottsdale,
Ariz.
The ECC, an affiliate of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE),
is an organization of owners, contractors, and suppliers that serves the
interests of the process, refining, pharmaceutical, power, and general
manufacturing industries. Its annual conference, which brings together key
players from leading companies to help delegates discover better ways of
improving capital project effectiveness, is the primary vehicle ECC uses to
achieve its mission of promoting thought leadership for the process,
industrial, and related industries.
In announcing Walters’ appointment, Stephen L. Cabano, chairman of the
ECC board and president and COO of Pathfinder, L.L.C., said, “I would like
to personally congratulate Anne-Marie on her new chair position and to thank
her for two years of dedicated service to the board. Her contributions to
ECC’s thought leadership programs continue to serve our mission well.
“I would also commend Anne-Marie for her tireless efforts within the ECC
community at large to foster best practices that enhance productivity for
all of our organizations by advancing connectivity between plant engineering
information and business information. By championing this important cause,
she is opening eyes and indeed making a difference.”
In September of 2005, Walters became only the second woman to serve on
the ECC board, which currently also includes executives from the following
leading companies: BASF, BP, BE&K, ConocoPhillips, The Dow Chemical Company,
ExxonMobil, Fluor Enterprises, Inc., Jacobs Engineering Group, Mustang
Process and Industrial, Inc., Pathfinder L.L.C., Westney Consulting Group,
Valero Energy Corporation, and WorleyParsons. With her new appointment,
Walters now holds the added distinction of being the first woman to chair
the ECC.
Walters, who is a chartered chemical engineer, is a founding member of
the Process Industries STEP Consortium (PISTEP) committee and has also
served on the boards of CIMsteel and the United Kingdom’s chapter of the
International Alliance for Interoperability (IAI). She is frequently a guest
speaker at industry events sponsored by these and other organizations and is
the author of numerous white papers on digital plant technology.
“I am honored by my appointment,” said Walters, “and look forward to
leading the charge for next year’s conference. With the help of my fellow
board members, I’m certain we can properly celebrate four decades of ECC
thought leadership by holding a 40th conference that’s the best ever.”
