3DCONNEXION Launches 3DxLabs Website
FREMONT,
CA, Jan 16, 2009 - 3Dconnexion, a Logitech company, today launched
3DxLabs,
a new online resource designed to bridge the gap between traditional product
development and community-driven innovation.
Whether you’re an early adopter, 3D enthusiast or design engineer,
visitors to
www.3dconnexion.com/labs have the opportunity to experience and evaluate
new and emerging innovations, technologies and potential products in the
developmental stage. In addition, 3DxLabs visitors are invited to share
feedback with 3Dconnexion engineers and developers, helping to influence
future product priorities.
“The 3DxLabs Web site was designed to foster a collaborative development
process so we can better support our community in the ways that are most
important to them,” said Dieter Neujahr, president of 3Dconnexion. “In
addition, customer feedback has always been important to us, and this allows
for another avenue in which people can share their opinions about what’s
working and what’s not, ultimately contributing to our future application
goals, plans and support.”
One of the first applications available at 3DxLabs is a 3Dconnexion
plug-in for Caligari, a subsidiary of Microsoft, trueSpace7.6, the free 3D
modeling, rendering and animation software. 3Dconnexion 3D mice give design
engineers, illustrators, architects, animators, and 3D enthusiasts using
trueSpace7.6 a streamlined workflow by providing a compelling two-handed
work style for more intuitive viewing and editing of 3D models and designs.
In addition, 3Dconnexion 3D mice integrate into true Space's
collaborative environments for creating and sharing designs in real time,
including transferring models to Microsoft Virtual Earth, helping to ensure
a consistent 3D design interface and immersive design experience.
“We are delighted that trueSpace7.6 is now available to customers at
3Dconnexion’s new 3DxLabs,” said Roman Ormandy, founder of Caligari, a
subsidiary of Microsoft. “The mouse and keyboard are inherently 2D inputs,
great for text documents or photo manipulations, but lacking when it comes
to moving around a genuine 3D environment. The SpaceNavigator solves that,
making it intuitive and easy to fly through 3D worlds in trueSpace or
Virtual Earth, so you can be immersed in them like never before.”
About 3Dconnexion 3D Mice
Unlike mice confined to motion on one flat plane, 3Dconnexion’s 3D mice
enable design engineers to move in all three dimensions simultaneously, with
the ability to pan, zoom and rotate camera views without stopping to select
commands. By gently lifting, pressing and turning the controller cap,
graphic professionals can intuitively control their 3D design environment,
with automatically synchronized camera positions for various view
projections to minimize unnecessary camera movement.
Support and Availability
3DxLabs software runs on multiple Operating Systems including Windows
and Mac and works with the entire 3Dconnexion 3D mouse product line – SpaceNavigator Personal Edition (MSRP $59), SpaceNavigator Standard Edition
(MSRP $99), SpaceNavigator for Notebooks (MSRP $129), SpaceExplorer (MSRP
$299), and SpacePilot (MSRP $399).
All 3D mice are available from professional CAD resellers and major
online resellers including Amazon, Buy.com, CDW, Dell, and PC Mall.
